The ACE Programme is embedded within the early childhood education and care centre and is supported by the ACE Studio.

Within select early childhood education and care centres is a specialised studio dedicated to fostering connections among autistic children. We call it the ACE Studio.

The ACE Studio offers predictability which is important for autistic children. It supports their learning and focus, it contributes to a positive mind set and ensures that their sensory needs and emotional regulation support requirements are met, which in turn supports their ability to learn.

Celebrating authentic connections

Our studio provides a safe and supportive space where children can come together to build friendships, share experiences, and celebrate their unique identities.

Creating a sense of belonging
At the ACE Studio, every child is valued for who they are. By connecting with other autistic children, they can feel a sense of belonging and acceptance that may be hard to find elsewhere.

Fostering meaningful connections
Socialising can be challenging for autistic children, but at the ACE Studio, they have the opportunity to interact with like-minded peers who understand and appreciate their perspectives. These connections lay the foundation for lifelong friendships and
support networks.

Promoting authenticity
We believe in honouring the authenticity of every child. At the ACE Studio, children are encouraged to express themselves freely without fear of judgment or misunderstanding. This authenticity empowers them to embrace their strengths and advocate for their needs.

Supporting meaningful participation
Through various experiences and programs throughout the centre environment, we empower children to actively participate in the wider community. Whether it’s through art, music, or group discussions, every child has the opportunity to contribute their unique talents and insights and to learn through meaningful participation and following Vygotsky’s theory of the Zone of proximal development (learning through a more knowledgeable peer or adult).

Advocacy and empowerment
ACE Studio is not just a place for socialising; it’s also a platform for advocacy. We believe that by amplifying the voices of autistic children, we can create a more inclusive and understanding society. Through workshops, events, and information programs, we empower children to advocate for themselves and others.
